Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge allegiance, to the flag of the United States of America
And to the republic for which it stands,
One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Healthy Youth Survey:
Nelsen is participating in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey. The survey will be given to 6th and 8th grade students next week during social studies class. The survey provides schools with important information on student health. Your participation is important and all student’s answers are anonymous.
Students, this is a reminder that we should be staying in our classrooms during the first and last five minutes of each class period. This is to help improve our attendance and get class started positively as well as to clear out hallways during transitions.
Latinx Club: Are you a Hispanic/Latinx student or do you want to learn more about Hispanic/Latinx culture, come check out our new Latinx Club! Room #118 on Mondays with Ms. Kim and Ms. Bates.
Picture re-take day will be October 18th during 1-3rd periods and after our testing is all complete. This is for students that have not taken a picture or are wanting a re-take for the pictures they purchased. This is not for a new picture on your ID card. Please bring your packet with you on that day to return them before taking new pictures. We will call down students by grade level during the class periods. If you have any questions you can contact Mrs. Riley

Good Evening, Nelsen Families,
As we continue to move through our first trimester, our staff work hard to offer more afterschool clubs and activities for our students. All our afterschool clubs and activities are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 2:45PM – 4:00PM. Bus transportation is provided for our afterschool clubs and activities that pick students up from Nelsen when clubs and activities end at 4:00PM. At the bottom of this email is a list of current clubs and activities. We can always create new clubs and activities based on student interest.
The following message is from our Nelsen CharacterStrong Committee:
Character Awards are back! Here at Nelsen we aren’t just working hard on academics, but also how to build character with our advisory curriculum. We want to honor students demonstrating great character daily. We need your help to highlight the students who you see at home, at school, and in our community showing these amazing character traits. Teachers, parents, and students are all open to nominate any Nelsen students. The 8 Essentials are Patience, Kindness, Humility, Respect, Selflessness, Forgiveness, Honesty Commitment. In the month of October, we are focused on PATIENCE & KINDNESS. Nominations are now open until OCTOBER 17th. Students will be recognized for their work building their own character. Please NOMINATE HERE, or on the Nelsen Website.
